As for my photo, it’s curious that you ended up choosing a photo that when it was taken it had a bit of a negative feeling to it: many surf spots in Algave have been dealing with the problem of too many campervans and autocaravans using the parking lots near the beach as a permanent base. Garbage, noise, lack of space for other people to park (including the clients of local restaurants) are the most commons situations emerging from this problem that – with the pandemic – is now worse than ever with people from all over Europe arriving at the Portuguese coast in search for some sun and good waves.

Still, at the time of this photo, during a beautiful swell embraced by SE winds, there were just a few cool and respectful campers, enjoying the amazing conditions like everyone else. I was once a proud owner of a campervan, and sincerely hope we can find solutions that allow people to keep doing surf trips like this.
