Note de “Line up”

Note de John Witzig

Texte mis à jour le 9/01/2021

When I first started posting on Instagram in June 2015, my intention was to try and tell a bit of the backstory about pictures that hadn’t been overexposed, and explain why, to my mind, they retained some interest more than forty years after they were taken.

I first posted this picture on 28 October 2015, although I’m aware that it’d been posted by others before then… that’s something that I have no control over.

In the intervening period I’ve posted it to publicise various exhibitions, simply because this snapshot is clearly the best known of the pictures I took during the 15-or-so years from the mid-1960s. Now it’s unquestionably over-exposed.

The ’48 Holden belonged to John Mantle… a friend of both Bob’s and mine. Why we’d taken it to go to town (and left Bob’s car parked below), I don’t have a clue. Why I decided to shoot a quick lineup when we were half way up the hill, I don’t know either. Generally speaking, I was ‘professional’ enough to shoot a whole group of pictures and choose the best. Not this time… there was just one of these.

I must admit to being rather sick of it (and some of you will be too), but I’m thankful that its continuing popularity has provided a little bit of the superannuation that I never had.

[46
post-1529","photo","type-photo","status-publish","hentry","photo_cat-photos

Bob Mc Tavish seul à Noosa en 1966, Australia -
